Former Miss Ireland Rebecca Maguire told how she has turned down the chance to star on reality TV show Love Island after falling for a mystery doctor.
The Belfast beauty first came to fame after winning the pageant in 2012 and is now carving out a successful career as a pharmacist and budding TV star.
After featuring in BBC’s reality show, Beauty Queen and Single, the 26-year-old said she’s been inundated with TV offers.
Rebecca told the Irish Mirror: “While it was running it was in the top three most watched shows in the UK, I was asked to do Love Island but obviously I have a boyfriend so that wouldn’t work.”
Landing a new presenting gig for the BBC has been a dream come true for the aspiring TV star.
She said: “I’ve been approached to do loads of shows in the UK and presenting one for BBC.

“The other show was more reality based and more fun, but for this new role I have to go to debating classes and take all these new lessons.
“I’m from Northern Ireland, I’ve such a strong northern accent but the BBC were looking for new talent and they said they liked my accent so I’m going to stick with it.
“Hopefully with the TV presenting, I’d consider doing less pharmacy.”
The brunette babe is keeping tight-lipped about her mystery man who shuns the limelight.
She added: “I’m dating a doctor, I met him through work but he doesn’t like getting in photos, I’ve tried to keep him quite private, he’s a consultant and not used to the whole events thing.”
With brains and beauty to burn, Rebecca insists there’s a lot more to the Miss Ireland Beauty Pageant - which is now taking entries for this year - than meets the eye.

She said: “I think people aren’t so much up for the beauty pageants they view them negatively but you can’t tar everyone who enters with the same brush myself included.
“I saw Miss Ireland as a stepping stone for modelling and to travel the world, I had so many amazing experiences, it doesn’t fall under this cliché, world peace.
“I judged Miss Ireland too and the girls who stand out are intelligent too, you are representing your country, it’s brains and beauty which will carry you so much further in life.
“But you’re always going to get negative comments made.”
Proudly admitting she’s had a boob job, the beauty said she’d get more surgery done if necessary.
She added: “I wouldn’t say no to more work, I was always very open about my surgery and the reasons I got it, I am not going to grow old gracefully and that’s the end of it.
“If you want to get whatever you want done that’s your choice.
“So many people in this industry have work done, it’s the norm now it’s a cultural thing.
“I look at girls with makeup on Instagram and think that takes an hour, it’s just not real life.”
