Due to the result of the opportunities that has been harnessed in the pageant business in Nigeria so far, positive prospects are still emerging. 


Because of this feat, the big player in the industry Silverbird’s Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) has not relented in its effort to keep creating opportunities both from its immediate environment and global scene. 


Going memory lane, it can be recalled that Nigeria’s beauty queen Agabani Darego represented her country at the Miss World beauty pageant, emerged as the winner.


Today, the first black African Miss World Agbani Darego has expressed her concern about the state of beauty pageantry business in Nigeria.


Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Agbani Darego who won the title in 2001 said, as a result of the plethora of beauty pageant companies springing up, a regulatory body would be needed to regulate them. 


The beauty queen said further that she understands that, the reason for the beauty companies springing up is because they want to impact in the younger generation; specifically, girls and society.


The 2001 Miss World winner also revealed that even with such intention, she believes it is too much, stressing on the risk that; it makes some girls fall into tricky situations. 


In her closing words, she said the pageant industry is still a growing industry’, emphasizing that Nigeria is not yet where it should be.
