TV personality and former Miss South Africa, Jo-Ann Strauss was showered with love from her adoring followers after she turned 40 this week.
It was a fabulous start to the month of February for Jo-Ann Strauss as the media personality and mother turned 40 years of age this week. Although a lot of people were thrilled for her as she reached the massive landmark, a number of her followers were curious as to how she’s kept herself looking so youthful for four entire decades. The former Miss South Africa could easily pass for someone 10 years younger!

On Wednesday, Jo-Ann was greeted by the blue skies and sunshine of Cape Town as she woke up as a forty-year-old for the first time. Although she has only enjoyed the new decade for a few moments, the pageant queen turned TV star has already shared a few thoughts about entering 40 with grace.
The excited mom of three began the day by writing, “Good morning, Forty! I’ve been waiting for you and you’re everything I wished for and more! Woke up on top of the world with a grateful heart and so happy to be celebrating my fortieth birthday. Thank you for all your love and support and kindness! I’m already overwhelmed by all the birthday messages and each of them magnifies the now permanent smile on my face. ”
Her comments were instantly flooded with lovely birthday messages from some of the biggest stars in the country including Rachel Kolisi, Mel Bala, Bridget Masinga and more. Rachel wrote, “Happy Birthday!” While Mel said, “Birthday Blessings Joanne!!! Welcome to the 40+ club. It’s nice here”
And Bridgette, another Miss SA alumni (she came runner up in 2002!) poured the love as she said, “Happy Birthday Gorgeous. You are grave, class and all that is fabulous!!! I keep saying 81 was very good vintage. Let’s celebrate when I’m in town”
Is 40 the new 30?
Along with the joyous birthday messages, many of the comments on Jo-Ann’s Instagram posts were from followers who wanted to know how Jo-Ann has kept herself looking so youthful. One user wrote, “I don’t believe you’re 40! [laugh]” while another added, “Please tell us how you are managing to age backwards, because wow!”
Although we’re sure that Jo-Ann Strauss has got an excellent beauty routine, it seems as if South African celebrities, in general, are sipping from the fountain of youth! The likes of Thembi Seete, Mel Bala, Khabonina Qubeka and several other stars are looking as youthful as ever, having turned forty in recent years.
Maybe it’s something in the South African water, or perhaps our A-listers have discovered how to stay young forever, but whatever their secret is – we are here for it!
