Pia Wurtzbach in Indonesia to promote HIV-testing

Former Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach of the Philippines visited Indonesia once again to promote the importance of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) testing as she shared the limelight with other international beauty queens during her trip.

“Back in Jakarta with @unaids_ap for GWA duties. During my visit here, I will be going to primary health centers and organizations to talk about issues of stigma and discrimination and of course the importance of HIV testing. I will be sharing more about this in my stories so stay tuned for that!” Pia wrote on Instagram.

Pia said HIV testing is part of self-love and self-care. “Always remember: HIV testing is part of self-love and self-care, as well as caring for your loved ones. It should be seen as a normal health check-up.”

She visited Puskesmas Jatinegara, a comprehensive and integrated primary health center in Jakarta where she met their health workers and patients.

“It’s quite impressive that Jakarta has high-quality HIV services, even in public primary health centers. After getting tested, you can start ARV (antiretroviral) treatment immediately. This can all be done for free,” Pia said.

Pia also said they had a press conference at Ruang Carlo, the community-friendly HIV clinic in St. Carolus Hospital, with UNAIDS (United Nations) doctors and partners, especially her fellow ambassador for Indonesia Atiqah Hasiholan.

Later, Pia joined the panel of judges for Puteri Indonesia, also known as Miss Universe Indonesia.

“I’m so happy I finally got to experience Puteri Indonesia. This was long overdue! I’ve always loved Indonesia. My very first trip as Miss Universe was to Jakarta & Bali and it was unforgettable. The only time I ever cried because I didn’t want to leave! True story!” she said.

Pia, 30, thanked fans in Indonesia for their love and support for her pageant journey.

“And I’ve always felt the love and appreciation of the pageant lovers in Indonesia. Terima kasih  Also very happy that I got to meet so many amazing and inspiring women last night. Our queens  And of course congratulations to the winners last night  I have to admit, once in a while, it’s nice to go back into pageant mode again photo credits to the owners,” the beauty queen said.

Pia shared on IG her photos with reigning Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi of South Africa, Miss Supranational Anntonia Porsild of Thailand, and Miss International Sireethorn Leearamwat,. also of Thailand.
