Miss India is a household name and a prominent brand when it comes to beauty pageants. It has created some proud title winners that have achieved the beacon of success, and strives to empower the youth and showcase the finest of India's talent on the international stage. Miss India Organisation has a six-decade tradition of transforming the lives of bright young women and giving birth to beauty and fashion business stars.

Femina, a women's magazine owned by Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd. organises the Miss India contest. From 1964 to 1975, Miss India's winner was sent to Miss Universe, while the runner-up was sent to Miss Asia Pacific. Miss India was awarded the Miss World franchise in 1976, and three winners were selected to represent India in Miss Universe, Miss World, and Miss Asia Pacific.

In 1994, India made history when Sushmita Sen, the winner of Miss India 1994, was crowned Miss Universe 1994, and Aishwarya Rai, the first runner-up in Miss India 1994, was crowned Miss World 1994.

However, in 2002, Miss India started sending the second runner-up to Miss Earth and later, in 2010, choosing the third winner to represent India in the Miss International pageant. From 2007 to 2009, three winners were selected going to Miss Universe, Miss World, and Miss Earth.

The three Miss India winners who won their respective international pageants in 2000 are Miss Universe Lara Dutta, Miss World Priyanka Chopra and Miss Asia Pacific International Dia Mirza.
In 2010, Nicole Faria became the first Indian to win the Miss Earth title in Vietnam. From 2018 to 2019, the three winners were Miss World, Miss Grand and Miss United Continents.
Femina Miss India World Manasa Varanasi, Femina Miss Grand India Manika Sheokand, and Femina Miss India runner-up Manya Singh made their dreams come true by winning the title in 2020. While now, for 2022, the Femina Miss World India titleholder will represent India at the prestigious Miss World pageant.

Miss India is one of the most coveted and glamorous beauty pageants globally, with the ability to make dreams come true. The stage has a reputation for altering the lives of young, talented women all throughout the country, enabling them to enjoy lives of beauty, comfort, and prosperity.

The platform has encouraged young women to believe in their dreams and achieve success with their hard work and dedication. Miss India Organisation considers its role in empowering women and providing them with the platform to be the voice and bring a change in society, as its main social advocacy. Also, to be an ambassador and influence the young minds for a brighter and better tomorrow.

Continuing the legacy that saw six Miss Worlds who made us proud by marking their presence on the globe — Reita Faria (1966), Aishwarya Rai (1994), Diana Hayden (1997), Yukta Mookhey (1999), Priyanka Chopra (2000) and Manushi Chhillar (2017), the hunt for the new crown-bearer has begun.
Over the years, the Miss India pageant's fitness, grooming, and style specialists have been preparing the beauty queens for national and worldwide success. During the lockdown, the experts used the opportunity to guide the newcomers to the race for the championship.

The winners also get the opportunity to be featured in several high-profile magazines. A brand is established around the personality through appearances at events, cover stories, features, and sponsorships. They receive a talent management contract from India's largest media conglomerate, the Times Group. Being professionally represented in the entertainment sector almost certainly leads to profitable projects and assignments in the fields of films, fashion, endorsements, events, and high-profile appearances.
