Saying the Philippines is a pageant-loving nation is an understatement, and one of the most prestigious international pageants that Pinoys always look forward to is the Miss World.
Just like Miss Universe and Miss International, the Miss World pageant has also been conquered by Pinay beauties. Beauty queen-turned-actress Ruffa Gutierrez brought so much pride in the country when she was crowned second runner-up in the pageant held in Sun City, South Africa in 1993.
Our hearts also bled for Catriona Gray, who gave a touching answer to the question: "Which qualities do you think it will take to wear my crown?"
Catriona's reply then, "I think, first of all, it takes bravery. To be a Miss World is to carry a burning torch. It is like action carried out by one to illuminate the lives of many. And I would dedicate my whole self, my love for the arts, and my voice to try to uplift, empower and educate people. And it would be my greatest honor and duty to hold this torch high enough so that all the world could feel and see its light.”
Catriona finished in the Top 5 in 2016. She then brought her talents and determination to Miss Universe and won the fourth title of the Philippines in the said competition.
And of course, the lone Filipina who captured our only crown in Miss World, Megan Young. She has established herself as one of the top stars in GMA-7 and cemented her place as a bankable endorser, too.

Ruffa Gutierrez
Ruffa Gutierrez finished second runner-up in the Miss World pageant in South Africa in 1993.

Ruffa is still active in showbiz now and is a proud mom to two beautiful ladies, Gabriella Bektas and Venice Bektas. Unfortunately, Ruffa's marriage with Yilmaz Bektas didn't go as planned and they parted ways.
Gwendoline Ruais
Gwendoline Ruais came close to capturing the crown in 2011. She finished that year as First Princess.

Gwendoline got engaged to PBA cager David Semerad in 2013, but the two parted ways eventually. It was not clear how they decided to end their engagement, but in a PEP.Ph article in April 2014, she denied the breakup rumor circulating then. It seems Gwendoline has since moved on from her relationship with the model-athlete and has found a new partner, while David has a baby with Gwen Zamora. They are now married after tying the knot in February 2021 in France.
Catriona Gray
The whole Philippines gasped when in 2016, Catriona Gray only finished in the Top Five after giving an awesome answer during the Miss World pageant night.

It seems the universe had a different plan for Catriona. In 2018, she won the fourth title of the Philippines in Miss Universe. In May 2020, Catriona and Sam Milby went public with their relationship, too.
Michelle Dee
Michelle Dee finished in the Top 12 of Miss World 2019, which was held in London.

After her stint in Miss World, Michelle dabbed into the world of hosting via 'Glow Up.' She is also busy with her modeling projects.
Valerie Weigmann
Former Dabarkad Valerie Weigmann captured the Miss World Philippines crown and became the successor of Megan Young in 2014.
