2016 Face of Central University to rep Ghana at World Miss University pageant in S Korea

A former student of the Central University College (CUC) and the 2016 Face of CUC, Stephanie Oforiwa Asare, is set to represent Ghana at the 29th World Miss University International.

The competition is set to take place in Seoul, South Korea on Thursday, December 20, 2018.

Stephanie Oforiwa Asare is the 11th Ghanaian queen to represent Ghana at this prestigious world event, and will be competing with delegates from 89 countries.

The young, articulate, intelligent and hard-working past CUC queen believes in showcasing Ghana’s cultural heritage at the world stage, and is poised for the ultimate: the crown as well as the exposure and prizes that come with it.

Stephanie is confident in bringing the crown home to Ghana, and she is preparing towards the competition.

She is hopeful Ghanaians will rally behind her to support her win the crown.

World Miss University Peace Corps is an event to select a World Miss University Peace Service Corps delegate.

The event was created in collaboration with the UN’s resolution of 1986: “Celebrating the International Year of Peace.”

On November 30, 1981, 157 member states unanimously passed a proposal submitted by Costa Rica to establish The International Year of Peace, which was requested by the International Association of University Presidents during the 36th UN General Assembly.

The UN resolution proclaimed the 3rd Tuesday of September every year as ‘The International Day of Peace’ while the 37th UN General Assembly proclaimed 1986 at the “The International Year of Peace”.

This is a decision of the UN that became the turning point in dismantling the Cold War and ceasing the long standing ideological conflicts in the East and West.

To increase the efficiency of reaching out to the rest of the world on the significance of the establishment of the International Year of Peace, World Miss University Service Peace Corps Foundation Inc. decided to establish a contest to announce the International Year of Peace on an annual basis.

The World Miss University Peace Corps Pageant aims at promoting world peace under the theme: ‘Peace Movement for the World Union’.

It is also aimed at helping strive for activities that promote international cooperation, global university cultural exchange festival and free diplomacy that projects the delegates as Peace Ambassadors across the world.
