When the rain poured, the candidates removed their high-heeled shoes as they paraded in front of the media in their two-piece swimwear at the poolside of the hotel.

Ramon Monzon, President of Carousel Productions, which organizes the annual competition, said that the pageant will take on a floral-theme this year to celebrate the beauty of nature and of course the best of Philippine women.

“This time, we’ve decided to showcase the rich flora of our country. They’re not only symbols of beauty but also a reminder that we are agents in making sure Mother Earth blooms to its fullest if we take care of her,” Monzon said.

Carousel Vice President Peachy Veneracion said: “The delegates will immerse themselves in various environmental activities that will take them to different parts of the country.”

For the first time, the Miss Philippines Earth pageant will be held during daytime at Cove Okada Manila in Paranaque on July 10 at 3 p.m., according to Carousel Executive Vice President Lorraine Schuck.

This is also the first time that a prestigious national beauty pageant would be held at daytime.

“We want to make use of the natural lighting effects at Okada that’s why we will hold the show at daytime. At the same time, this will conserve energy,” said Shuck.

At the media presentation, George Coronation earned a gold medal after she was chosen Darling of the Press. Chelsea Fernandez received a silver medal while Alex Dayton, bronze medal.
