EIGHTY-SEVEN women who will compete in the Miss Intercontinental pageant were presented on Thursday at the Mindanao Ballroom of the Sofitel Philippine Plaza.
The successor of Veronica Salas Vallejo of Mexico will be crowned on January 26.
“The new winner will be able to follow the same footsteps of someone successful,” Miss Intercontinental CEO Detlef Tursies said.
“Beauty can change the world. It is important for everyone, not just for young girls,” he continued.
The pre-pageant activities leading to the coronation night include an evening gown competition by up-and-coming Filipino designers, as well as a Filipiniana fashion show to continue the emphasis on Filipino culture and creativity.
As with other pageants, the winner will be chosen based on intelligence, beauty, fashion flair, talent and open-mindedness.
If she wins, Karen Gallman, the country’s bet, would be the first Filipina to become Miss Intercontinental.
