Cynthia Thomalla welcomes her new responsibilities as Miss Eco-International 2018, like, totally.

She is the first Filipina to win the crown, besting some 50 other girls from all over the globe. In a recent press conference, she revealed having mixed emotions over the matter, trying to “absorb everything” in the process.

“Actually in the past few days, I wasn’t speaking because I still can’t believe that I’m wearing the crown of Miss Eco-International. I’m in the process of, you know, trying to figure out what are the things that I should do,” she said.

“I know that this isn’t an easy task for me but now, I’m trying to be more mindful in everything that I do. I’m trying to be more mature and responsible about the things that I’m facing.”

As part of her duties as Miss Eco-International, Cynthia will travel to various countries like India, Egypt and New York in the coming months. She received a six-year diplomatic passport as the ambassador for environment and ecotourism at the United Nations, where she will also have a speaking engagement this year.

Apart from promoting ecotourism, Cynthia wants to visit hospitals and children’s charities.

“It makes me feel anxious that I have big responsibilities to hold but at the same time, I’m excited with what I can do especially with that passport. I intend to use that to make a difference to the lives of different people,” she said.

Cynthia signed a movie contract with Regal Films as part of her cash prize in the Miss World Philippines pageant last year.

She looks forward to that after her reign.

“I hope everything will go through as plan. Right now, I’m trying to balance things out and I’m thankful that I’m surrounded with amazing people who are very supportive and encouraging,” she maintained.

As for her love life, Cynthia is grateful to have an understanding boyfriend.

“He knows he has to adjust because I will be busy in the coming months. I think it’s all about communication and understanding naman. Actually he always tells me to responsible and wise. He is very, very supportive,” she said.

Miss World-Philippines batch 2017 is indeed fruitful with three international titleholders.

First of is Teresita Ssen Marquez who bagged the Reina Hispano Americana Filipinas 2017 title then there’s Sophia Señoron for Miss Multinational 2018 crown – and now, Cynthia.

MWP organization national director Arnold Vegafria and general manager Bessie Besana couldn’t help but be proud of the ladies.

“Nu’ng na-koronahan sila (the girls), sabi ko parang ‘Makaka-dalawa tayo this year.’ Pero nu’ng nakita ko na sila nag-training, ay sabi ‘Hindi. Parang makakarami tayo (ng panalo). Kumbaga hardwork lang talaga eh at nakita ko sa kanila ‘yun. Alam ko kung ano ‘yung pinagdaanan nila na para lang makuha itong mga koronang ito,” Bessie explained.

As for the future plans of the organization, Arnold said that “we might add more titles” this year.

“We want to give more opportunities to aspiring girls who wants to be queen and to represent our country,” he noted.

The country will host this year’s Mr. World pageant.

“Hopefully sa 2020, ‘yung Miss World pageant naman,” Arnold said.
