Soon after the crowning ceremony of Miss USA, a finalist took to social media to reveal details of how the pageant was “rigged.”

For the unversed, Miss Montana Heather Lee O’Keefe alleged that the winner R’Bonney Gabriel of Texas had a biassed win due to the unfair advantage of favouritism from the organisers and sponsors. Many other contestants also went online to share frustrations over their broken dreams, further implying that Gabriel’s victory was fixed.

Later slamming the organisation for using her and other contestants as puppets during an interview, Heather stated, “I feel like, and a lot of other contestants feel like, they had already predetermined the winner. We were just there as puppets to put on this show for them to make it seem like there was a pageant. That’s how we feel. That’s our own opinion. The only thing I know was that there was clear and convincing favouritism toward her in the competition and leading up to the competition. She received more resources than we did. That is the root of the issue.”

Following the “rigged” allegations against Miss USA, the Miss Universe Organization immediately suspended Crystle Stewart’s The Miss Brand Corp, producers of the competition. As per reports, a comprehensive, third-party investigation is being conducted by the law firm Holland & Knight, and the appropriate action will be based on their findings. MUO President Paula Shugart and CEO Amy Emmerich confirmed Crystle’s cooperation through the process and brought up MUO’s commitment to the contestants and fans as the top of their priority.
