Meghan Sinisi, who earned her entry into the statewide pageant as Miss Central Pennsylvania, was crowned at The Appell Center in York Saturday night, after the final session of a three-day competition bringing together 22 contestants from around the state.
Sinisi will now represent Pennsylvania at the 100th Miss America competition at the Mohegan Sun Resort in Connecticut in December. She also wins a $10,000 scholarship.
The Miss America Organization prides itself on being one of the largest providers of scholarships to young women in the United States. All contestants within the system, at the local, state, and national levels are focused on community service, talent, and empowerment.
Sinisi, 25, is a 2017 graduate of Syracuse University and earned a master’s degree earlier this year from the University of Missouri in Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences. Before enrolling at Missouri, she had served as a literacy teacher for AmeriCorps.
Sinisi’s social impact initiative involves autism awareness and acceptance, and her talent was baton.
The first runner-up in Saturday’s final was Alyssa Bainbridge, Miss Berks County.
The competition returned to the stage this year after a pandemic-forced cancellation in 2020. 2021 marked the second time that the Miss Pennsylvania pageant has been hosted in York.
