The just concluded Miss Sierra Leone Beauty Pageant has been smeared with corruption and people have called Anti-Corruption to investigate.
Reports say the name of the Chief Judge of the Beauty Contest Vicky Remoe has been associated with the corruption allegations. It remains to be seen if the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) will listen to the many pleas. Eventually, Miss Bonthe was declared the winner as the New Miss Sierra Leone 2018 but many observers smelled foul play. Here are the facts and exhibits, according to critics:
1). Vicky Remoe - Chief Judge was allegedly hired by Miss Bonthe’s as part of her team (EXHIBIT: VR/ 1 Vicky’s Facebook post endorsing Miss Bonthe’s dress). (Photo below: Miss Sarah Laura Tucker of Bonthe, the controversial winner).
2). Vicky Romeo received a last minute objection from the contestants who met with the organisers and reported alleged malpractices and conflict of interest. Some contestants wanted to withdraw from the show but the organisers encouraged and assured them (EXHIBIT: VR/2 minutes of a meeting between contestants and organisers in evening of the contest).
3). Vicky Remoe is a friend of Madam Wokie, the designer for Miss Bonthe. Conflict of interest. (EXHIBIT: VR/3 Vicky promoting Madam Wokie’s brands on Facebook via Mode model).
4). Vicky Remoe collided with one particular female judge and they are both like sister-friends since childhood (EXHBIT: VR/4 Vicky and the best friend photo on Facebook).
5).Vicky Remoe stage-managed and created a 3 against 2 Judges situation to decide between Miss Bonthe, Miss Kailahun and Miss Western Area Urban - Miss Bonthe won by small 2 points on the verdict of Vicky and co (EXHIBIT: VR/5 records of scores/results held by Miss Sierra Leone organisers).
6). Vicky Remoe paved the way for the Office of the First Lady Fatima Bio and organisers to be involved with Miss Bonthe. Tribalism and politics took the crown. Moving forward, and in the interest of a better Sierra Leone, a dishonest person like Vicky Remoe should never be allowed to judge any event in this country. She is not capable of holding public office or position of trust.
Vicky Remoe is just a mess, very pompous, silly, clueless, misguided and she is responsible for the Miss Sierra Leone mess. Whosever paid Vicky to do such a dirty job, has destroyed pageantry and tourism in the country. Adonis Abboud and co-organisers should be held accountable.
Clearly, someone’s child, a more deserving and eloquent Queen was deprived of an opportunity to brand Sierra Leone. Unfortunately, Miss Bonthe has been rejected by the public and may struggle to survive on the world stage as the 'Fixed Queen', not the 'Real Queen'. What an error!
The other contestants include Miss Western Area Rural Danita Zubairu; Miss Moyamba Iye Nyanday Sei; Miss Falaba Yabba Mansaray; Miss Bo Baindu Kowa; Miss Port Loko Ramatulai Barrie; Miss Western Area Urban Esther Williams; Miss Kenema Ella Massah Moijueh; Miss Karena Esther Sesay; Miss Pujehun Hawa Njai; Miss Tonkolili Marion Tenefila Koroma; Miss Koinadugu Margaret Mansaray; Miss Kono Claudia Josephine Suma; Miss Bombali Bernita Koroma; Miss Kambia Sentmile Omotunde Palmer; Miss Kailahun Adama Lakoh.
