Pageant fans know that the Miss Universe and Miss USA titleholders get to share an apartment in New York, just like Pia Wurtzbach and Olivia Jordan back in 2015.

The crown is now with Catriona Gray and she gets to be roommates with the United States’ representative to the pageant, Sarah Rose Summers, who courted controversy last month for allegedly poking fun at non-English speaking contestants.

Summers – as well as the other Miss Universe candidates dragged into the issue – have since cleared up the “misunderstanding.”

Weeks after the incident, Gray was asked to share her thoughts about Summers in an interview with American radio personality Sway Calloway.

The Filipino-Australian beauty queen defended Summers, saying: “If you would get to know her, you would know that she never meant anything malicious by it. And I know that she’s definitely learned from this experience.”

Gray went on: “She was just admiring the courage of those girls. Because imagine if you’re in a high-pressure environment of a pageant, and the translators don’t come in until the last week. So there’s that extra pressure on them, they really are out of their comfort zone. And the fact that they are there and thriving in that environment, I think that’s what Sarah was commenting on and admiring.”
