Catriona Gray looks back on Bb. Pilipinas 2018 journey

MANILA – A day after Binibining Pilipinas announced its newest batch of candidates, Catriona Gray took to social media to look back on her journey in the national pageant that allowed her to join – and eventually win – Miss Universe.

On Instagram, Gray shared a video showing highlights of her performance in Bb. Pilipinas 2018, saying it was the “night that the dream to represent my country came true.”

“I realized that night that those doors that closed on me in the years prior were not denying me, but redirecting me to something even better than I could ever have dreamed of,” she said.

“Sometimes the universe has bigger things in store for you… You just need to stay true to yourself, surround yourself with people who believe in you, put the work, and have faith. Forever a Miss Philippines, forever a Binibini.”

Gray competed in Miss World Philippines 2016 and eventually Miss World, where she finished in the Top 5.

It was a heartbreaking loss for Gray, who was considered a strong contender in the pageant.

Two years later, she joined Bb. Pilipinas and went on to become the Philippines’ fourth Miss Universe titleholder after Pia Wurtzbach (2015), Margie Moran (1973), and Gloria Diaz (1969).
