Reigning Miss Universe Catriona Gray on Thursday was welcomed by Tamaryn Green, her runner-up in the 2018 pageant, as well as her predecessor, Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, in their home country of South Africa.
Gray is in South Africa as one of the judges in its national pageant, which will send Green’s successor as the country’s representative in Miss Universe.
Nel-Peters won the same pageant in 2017 to become Miss South Africa, and subsequently clinched the Miss Universe title that same year. She crowned Gray a year later.
“Finally!” Gray captioned her Instagram photo showing her with Green and Nel-Peters.

During the 2018 Miss Universe competition, both Gray and Green were widely tipped as possible winners by pageant pundits, with some describing them as early rivals.
In Green’s post-pageant interview with ABS-CBN News, she only had good words for Gray, whom she described as “lovely” and “amazing” — dousing rumors at the time of a rift between the two.
