MARCH 14, 2018 BOSSIER NOW
The Bossier City Council will consider contributing $50,000 in an effort to bring the Miss USA pageant to Shreveport’s Hirsch Coliseum. The Shreveport Times and KTAL-TV are reporting the funds would come from Bossier City’s hotel/motel taxes fund.
The Miss Universe organization is reportedly considering Shreveport to host both the Miss USA and Miss Teen USA pageants on the State Fairgrounds in Shreveport, particularly Hirsch Coliseum.
“There’s a very good possibility that this thing is going to happen,” Chris Giordano, president and general manager of the State Fair of Louisiana told Times reporter Nick Wooten.
The city council will vote on the measure at its regularly scheduled meeting next week.
The 2017 Miss USA pageant was held at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas last May.
