At the coronation ceremony hosted recently at Studio 21, Hilversum following all safety protocols instructed by the health department, the gorgeous Denise Speelman was crowned Miss Netherlands 2020 and is the official representative of the country at the prestigious Miss Universe 2020 pageant. She was crowned by Miss Netherlands 2019 Sharon Pieksma at the event finale.
The 20-year-old is born and brought up in Groningen, and successfully runs her styling company in Amsterdam. She is not new to pageantry as she has previously participated and won the Miss Noord Netherlands crown in the year 2014.
The overjoyed beauty queen who could not believe the glorious win at Miss Netherlands 2020 expressed her emotions through a post captioned, “When I woke up this morning I really had to squeeze myself first .. is it real? Yes, I can really call myself Miss Netherlands 2020 !!
What an evening and dear Miss Sisters, what a great show we put down together!
I can't wait to represent the Netherlands this year, to share my story, and to achieve the goals I have with it.

Denise won the crown outshining nine other contestants at the national finale. She plans to use her platform to advocate about eating disorders and body positivity as she had to deal with this in the past and is confident to help many more women who go through the same difficulty with the help of her experience.
The finale ceremony of Miss Netherlands 2020 which was hosted in a private setting due to the ongoing pandemic had an amazing panel of judges which included photographer William Rutten, Monique Westenberg, Albert Verlinde, Kristina Bozilovic, Viktor Brand, Monica van Ee and Sharon Pieksma Miss Netherlands 2019.
