A morning schedule for LIVA Miss Diva 2020 finalists is usually about yoga, meditation and workout, but Tuesday morning was slightly different for these finalists in Delhi. It was all about dancing with kids, playing games and walking the ramp with them. The finalists participated in an event by the NGO Smile Train India and interacted with cleft lip and cleft palate patients. Miss Diva Universe 2019 Vartika Singh was also a part of the event, which began with a motivational speech by Paralympian Deepa Malik. An interactive session between Deepa Malik and the Miss Diva finalists followed the brief speech. "I am nervous, there’s so much beauty around me," laughed Deepa, the first Indian woman to win a Paralympic medal.

Success mantra from sports star

Deepa not just shared her success story with the finalists, but also motivated them to prepare for their journey ahead in the pageant. In her session with the girls, she told them, "The moment you are participating you are already a winner. When I won my Arjuna Award in 2012, people said to me that ' ho gaya, you are lucky, President ke saath photo khich gayi. You are 42 and you should retire now.' I was like why? I continued to play and I made more Asian records, won more medals and in 2014 I won another award from the President. People told me that ‘wow you got two pictures now with the President, you should retire now.' I still continued to play and learn and in 2017 I got my third award, Padma Shri, from the President. Then also people said ki ye budhiya ho gayi hai, ab ye retire ho jayegi. I became the first ever woman in India to win three consecutive Asian Games medals with three Asian records, so I was given another award by the President. Presidents changed but I kept getting awards. In 2019 I was also given the Khel Ratna Award. So always remember that the game and victory belong to those who continue to learn and play the game and stay in the game, and that's more important. No matter what people say, you are what you feel from within. Be positive and continue to learn has been my key to success."

The kids queued to walk the ramp with the divas and some even shared how they wanted to pose on the ramp. "It's been so good to talk to kids. I was super excited when I saw their enthusiasm and they even gave me some supermodel lessons," said Vartika with a big smile. After the ramp walk, it was the time for some games where the finalists danced with kids. "I had so much fun with these kids here, it has been a wonderful experience," commented Rashalika Sabharwal, one of the finalists. Lavanya Gunasekar added, "I feel so much inspired by these kids I met here today. I think we all need to do our bit to bring more happiness to these kids." The finalists made most of their day out in Delhi and also visited National Rail Museum.
