Ex-Edinburgh University student is crowned Miss Scotland 2019

Keryn Matthew will now head to Thailand in December for the Miss World 2019 pageant.

A former Edinburgh University student has been crown Miss Scotland 2019.

Keryn Matthew scooped the prestigious prize at a flashy event in Glasgow 's Grand Central Station Hotel last night.

The 24-year-old beat off 17 other stunners following a number of challenges and fundraising events in the weeks leading up to the final.

Keryn raised money for the Alzheimer Scotland charity throughout her journey in the competition after her grandfather suffered from the chronic neurodegenerative disease.

She takes over the crown from last year's winner Linzi McLelland, who was the first winner from East Kilbride.

Keryn will now have her fingers crossed as she represents Scotland at the Miss World pageant in Thailand in December.

The winner of the competition will be crown by 2018 winner and Mexican model Vanessa Ponce.
