The journey to being crowned Miss South Africa is not an easy one and, until now, has only been experienced by those competing for the title.
This is set to change with the launch of the highly-anticipated 10-part reality series, Crown Chasers, which debuts on the Miss South Africa app.
Transparency is a basic requirement of a reality show! In a first of its kind in South Africa, Crown Chasers lets viewers follow the ups, the downs, the fears, the tears, the tantrums, the glamour, the laughs and the joy as the top 10 edge their way closer to the moment when one of them will wear the coveted crown.
Filmed throughout the build-up to the crowning of Miss South Africa 2022, the five- to eight-minute-long episodes follow the top 10 contestants from the moment they are given the good news that they have made it to the finals, to the live pageant event, which takes place at the SunBet Arena, Time Square, Pretoria on Saturday, August 13.
If you’ve been curious about what goes on during pageant-prep and if you’ve ever wondered what the top 10 gets up to between being chosen and strutting their stuff on stage, this is your not-to-be-missed behind-the-scenes window.
It’s the contestants as you’ve never seen them before. It’s raw and riveting viewing that holds no punches. Get your ringside seat as you watch the top 10 go into battle to be the next queen.
Miss South Africa Organisation CEO, Stephanie Weil, said, “Of course, we don’t want them to be mean or catty but it does happen. Each of these finalists has the dream and ambition to win the crown but there is only one winner. Everyone is fighting for it. The passion is palpable.”
The first episode of Crown Chasers aired free and exclusive on the Miss South Africa app, last week. Thereafter, the remaining nine episodes will be shown every Monday and Thursday at 6:30pm.
The 10th and final episode of the series, which will be available to watch on August 15, will celebrate the winner and her personal journey to becoming Miss South Africa.
The team behind Crown Chasers include executive producer, Relebogile Mabotja and creative director, Azania Muendane, both from Black Swan, who will be filming the live pageant next month. As in previous years, it will also be broadcast live on DStv’s M-Net and Mzansi Magic and streamed for an international audience on the Miss South Africa app.
Miss South Africa 2022 will take home prizes and sponsorships worth more than R3 million.
The top 10 finalists competing for the crown are Anarzade Omar, Ayanda Thabethe, Itumeleng Parage, Keaoleboga Nkashe, Lebogang Mahlangu, Luvé Meyer, Luyanda Zuma, Ndavi Nokeri, Pearl Ntshehi and Tamsyn Jack.
