Bb. Pilipinas 2019 candidates vying for ‘Gandang Palaban’ special award inside Pascual Laboratories in Bulacan.

Three traits that one of the 40 Binibining Pilipinas 2019 candidates will clinch her a special award given out for the first time in the pageant’s 56 years of existence.

The new special award — Bb. Poten-Cee Gandang Palaban — is to be awarded by the pageant’s official vitamin manufacturer, Pascual Laboratories, Inc. through its subsidiary, Pascual Consumer Healthcare Corp. (PCHC), during the coronation night on June 9 at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

“PascualLab has partnered with Binibining Pilipinas to award the young lady who truly exemplifies how the Filipino woman of today can face her responsibilities and challenges with grit and grace, be trusted to deliver what is expected of her, and feels empowered to rise above any occasion. And, whoever wins the crown this year, we hope she brings the same spirit of Poten-Cee’s Gandang Palaban with her wherever it may take her,” PCHC Marketing head Beth Sheba “Pepsi” Alacar announced during the ladies’ visit to the manufacturing plant.

“This partnership will enable the organization to build relationships with brands such as Poten-Cee that have wellness and health in mind. Both Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. (BPCI) and Poten-Cee are Filipino-based institutions that are set out to empower modern Filipinas who are beyond beauty and who exemplify health as well,” BPCI head Gines Enriquez said.

The candidates already showcased their Gandang Palaban grit during their visit and engagement with PascualLab, as they were eager to learn more about the brand and its dual benefits of beauty and immunity, how it is manufactured and how to arm themselves against sickness, and what they can further achieve with a healthy lifestyle.

Leading the ladies during their tour of the plant as well as the rest home-turned-museum of founders Isosceles and Leonora Pascual in Bulacan was Director for HR, Design Services and Corporate Communications (DSCC) Mia Pascual Cenzon. Also present were company executives Higinio Porte, Charmaine Abueva, Mario Soliven and Jesse Santiago.

As prelude to the search, the ladies participated in the “Gandang Palaban IG Challenge” where they were encouraged to pose with their complimentary Poten-Cee products in their most creative pose and then use the hashtag #GandangPalaban.

Besides the Miss Universe Philippines 2019 crown, the candidates are also competing for five major titles — Binibining Pilipinas International, Binibining Pilipinas Intercontinental, Binibining Pilipinas Supranational, Binibining Pilipinas Globe and Binibining Pilipinas Grand International.

Eager to learn more about the product’s dual benefits of beauty and immunity, the ladies get close and personal how it is manufactured and how to arm themselves against sickness.

Last year was a good harvest for Binibining Pilipinas queens, with Catriona Gray winning no less than the Miss Universe crown in Bangkok, Thailand in December. Karen Gallman became the first Filipina crowned Miss Intercontinental hosted by Japan but held in Manila in January. Ahtisa Manalo was Miss International First Runner-up in Tokyo, Japan. Jehza Mae Huelar made it to Miss Supranational Top 10 in Krynica, Poland. Michele Gumabao was Miss Globe Top 15 in Tirana, Albania. Eva Patalinjug was unplaced in the Miss Grand International held in Yangon, Myanmar.

With no doubt the most empowered woman in the universe at this time, Gray asserted over and over again, “I just constantly tell myself that I should be the only one to define my worth and what I’m capable of and how I perceive myself. And that I should never source that worth from other people.”
