Christine Mangan takes part in the Miss Ireland contest next month

Christine Mangan (26) who lives in Gorey is to represent Wexford in the upcoming Miss Ireland competition, which will see 32 women taking part in the beauty pageant, which has been running for 72 years.
Christine moved to Gorey from Donegal at the age of 12, with her parents Mary and Ciarán, and her sister Sara-Jane, and she went to school in Bunscoil Loreto before attending Gorey Community School.
'I'm really delighted to be representing the area I love so much, it's such a wonderful place where my mother is from, as well as my granddad Owen Kenny,' she said.
It was in Gorey that Christine found a love for community involvement as well as musical theatre, particularly singing, as she had been involved with the local pantomimes, school musicals and summer shows at Gorey Little Theatre.
'What I like about the Miss Ireland and Miss World competition is that it has brought so much positivity to the world in that it brings all the girls together for a good cause, particularly through the beauty with a purpose aspect,' said Christine.
Miss Ireland has partnered with the charity Variety Ireland and each finalist like Christine and the overall winner will be helping to raise funds and awareness for the children's charity.
'I like how you have to focus your attention on the charity work and get out there in your community. As Miss Wexford I am hoping to promote my area, and hopefully I'll make Wexford proud,' said Christine.
Over the years, Christine has volunteered with the NWSPCA as well as Oakfield Nursing Home, and she is currently volunteering with Seal Rescue Ireland.
She spent three years in Dubai working as an air hostess with Emirates airlines and really enjoyed the adventure, before returning to Ireland recently.
'All through the years I've been following Miss Ireland and Miss World. Back in 2003 when Rosanna Davison won for Ireland, really from then on.
This year the competition is not just based on beauty, more so about the achievements of the modern woman with tasks interviews, fashion, sports, social media skills and the special talent.
The contest takes place in September 14, where all 32 ladies will take to the stage at the Helix Theatre in Dublin.
Before the big day, Christine is looking for the local people to get behind her and further her sponsorship.
The winner of Miss Ireland goes on to represent her country at the Miss World competition in London in December, and the top prize for the winner is $100,000.
