HELENA, Mont. (AP) — A 22-year-old Helena woman will represent Montana in the Miss America Pageant in September.
The Independent Record reports Mo Shea was crowned Miss Montana on Saturday, earning the title and a $5,100 scholarship out of a field of 11 contestants.
Shea plans to raise awareness of skin cancer during her speaking engagements as Miss Montana over the next year.
The University of Montana graduate earned a degree in cellular and molecular neuroscience.
She plans to enroll in medical school next year and specialize in dermatology.
Haylie Storlie, of Glendive, was the contest's first runner-up. Jessica Criss, of Bozeman, was the second runner-up.
Laura Haller, of Helena, held the Miss Montana title last year.
The Miss America Pageant will be held in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
