Hera Chan crowned Miss Hong Kong 2018

The 2018 Miss Hong Kong Pageant was held on Sunday evening, with Hera Chan beating 19 other finalists to emerge victorious.

The competition was hosted by TVB, a television broadcasting company based in Hong Kong. The finalists were selected using a celebrity judging panel and a public vote via TVB’s mobile application.

The two-hour finale included a talent show, question and answer session, swimsuit competition and the main vote.

The 23-year-old champion, Hera Chan, who works as a model, graduated from one of Hong Kong’s top universities - the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She was also awarded the title of ‘My Favourite Pageant’ during the competition.

Apprentice architect Amber Tang, 23, won first runner-up and the ‘Miss Photogenic’ award, while pharmaceutical consultant Sara Ting, 24, was the second runner-up.

The Miss Hong Kong Pageant, or Miss HK for short, has been held since 1973 and used to be one of the most influential events in Hong Kong's entertainment calendar. Award-winning international actress Maggie Cheung was the contest's first runner-up 1983.

Meanwhile, Miss World 2018, the 68th edition of the Miss World pageant, will take place in southern China’s Sanya, Hainan Province on December 8.

However, the date for Miss China, which is a national pageant that sends representatives to the Miss World pageant, has not yet been revealed.
