She was one of three Miss Universe contestants seen discussing non-English speaking competitors in what was deemed a 'racist 'video last week.

And Miss Universe Australia Francesca Hung now believes her appearance in the Instagram Live video shared on Miss Colombia Valeria Morales's account, may have cost her the crown.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, the 24-year-old says she saw the top spot in the competition 'slip away'.

The model, who finished in the top twenty of the beauty pageant, tells the paper: 'In the days after as the negative reaction continued I saw my position to be in the top few spots slip away.'

The beauty went on to say that she wishes she could undo the past, saying: 'It is very upsetting. If I could go back and change things, or take it back then I would'.

Last week, Francesca was seen alongside Miss USA Sarah Rose Summers and Miss Columbia Valeria Morales in a video filmed during rehearsals in Bangkok.

The trio were accused of being 'racist' and 'bigoted' after appearing to make fun of fellow contenders Miss Vietnam H'Hen Nie and Miss Cambodia, Rern Sinat for speaking poor English.

'Miss Cambodia is here and doesn't speak any English and not a single other person speaks her language,' Miss USA Sarah Rose Summers said in the livestream.

Miss Colombia, Valeria Morales, agreed with the claims.

'Could you imagine? Like Francesca said, that would be so isolating and I said yes, and I mean, just confusing all the time,' Miss USA continued.

Miss Australia added to the conversation, by nodding and saying: 'It would be really hard'.

The remarks continued in another part of the livestream when the contestants discussed Miss Vietnam's limited English.

Talk: The women referenced the language skills of other contestants including Miss Vietnam H'Hen Nie (pictured)

Comments: The English skills of Miss Cambodia, Rern Sinat (pictured) were also questioned

'Miss Vietnam... she's so cute, and she pretends to know so much English and then you ask her a question after having a whole conversation with her and she goes (nods),' Miss USA said.

After the video garnered widespread criticism, as well as accusations of bullying and racism, Francesca told The Daily Telegraph that her comments were misunderstood.

'I'm so upset the that this situation has been misconstrued like this,' she began.

The beauty went on to say that she wishes she could undo the past, saying: 'It is very upsetting. If I could go back and change things, or take it back then I would'

'We were merely saying it must be even more difficult at times not to have a single other delegate able to speak [Cambodian language Khumer].

The Australian model added: 'Which in fact, makes Nat (Miss Cambodia) an even stronger contender.'

Miss USA, Sarah Rose Summers, has since publicly apologised for the comments.
