Sini Shetty, 21, is a finance graduate and winner of Miss India World 2022.

Sini Shetty, the 21-year-old winner of the Miss India World title in 2022, in a candid interview with Moneycontrol, delved into her transformative journey and the upcoming Miss World pageant set to be hosted by India after 27 years.

Reflecting on her decision to apply for Miss India, Shetty shared that winning the title was a pivotal moment in her life. Despite being content with her achievements in the corporate field and her passion for Bharatnatyam, the pageant introduced her to a new perspective.

"Pageantry was love at first sight. I felt there was more vision, more purpose to our life, a lot more I can do with my caliber, abilities," the finance graduate expressed.

Addressing concerns at home, particularly from her parents, Shetty recounted a pivotal conversation.

“There was definitely worry and panic around my parents. They were wondering and questioning, they were not wrong when they questioned me – that why the sudden switch, why do you feel that – they were just finding logic. I think I still remember, one of my favourite memories, we were just sitting across and we had this simple conversation where I told them that this is the direction that I want to pursue. And I feel that this gives logic and vision to my life,” she shared.

Assuring her commitment to her accountancy ambitions, she conveyed that she would also pursue that. "I promise that I would complete this; I am not someone who quits," she affirmed to her parents.

Previously engaged in a youth marketing organization, Shetty realized she wanted more from life. "I found purpose in life," she shared.

Coming from Karnataka, the same state as former Miss World and actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Shetty revealed she feels no pressure. Instead, a mix of excitement and contentment prevails, anticipating the opportunity to showcase her capabilities to her peers.

“I have a rollercoaster of emotions – I am feeling excited, I am also feeling content because all of them are coming here I have so much to do so much to show them so there are a lot of feelings but not nervousness at all,” she said.

Discussing the pressures associated with such competitions, Shetty emphasized the importance of passion and self-discovery. She detailed her two-year preparation for Miss World, emphasizing the growth, exposure, and training she gained during the journey.

“I feel like I have grown with a lot of exposure, experience and training but when it comes to communication, your work, styling your personality, you need so many people that help you discover yourself I believe in observing and learning,” she added.

While she said pressure may take a toll on health, she has a solution.

“I do agree pressure is something that can mount up on your health and mental health but there is one thing I really believe in is passion and how you pursue it. I keep my passion really close to me that is dance and just breathing and understanding that everything is ok you just have to true to yourself, you have to be your authentic self just be kind at heart and everything will work out for you,” she said.

When asked about describing India to the world in one word, Shetty chose “growth”. She described India as a potluck of culture and growth.

“We are all very rooted in our traditions and at the same time we are embarking on a new journey where we see India on the global platform, being one of the biggest economies, we are advancing in technology, we are taking our recourse towards a progressive march and perfection,” she said describing the nation.

"India has taken us to the greater level," she declared, expressing her eagerness to show the country’s hospitality and growth to the 120 delegates and her fellow contestants participating in the Miss World pageant.
