Who is the new Miss South Africa 2019? She is known as Zozibini Tunzi. The event was held at the Sun Arena in Time Square, Pretoria. However, she was raised in a village not far from Sidwadweni. 3. Her role models are her parents Just like a few other people would lay claim on their parents as their sources of inspiration, Zozibini Tunzi is also proud to have wonderful parents who also dub as her role models. Apart from them, she has also confessed that Caster Semenya is another person who she gets inspirations from. Zozibini Tunzi won in the last question and answer session Out of the top 16 Miss SA 2019 finalists that were announced a few weeks before the grand finale, Tunzi seems to have walked her way into the hearts of the public and wooed them all over. After she was left with her fellow finalist Sasha-Lee Olivier, a 26-year-old Wits University student from Johannesburg, Tunzi outperformed her in the last question and answer session. Among the panel of judges were the actress and businesswoman, Connie Ferguson and SA model, Anele Mdoda, in addition to the activist and lawyer, Thando Hopa. 7. Moghele took the crown with her natural hair It is amazing that the new Miss South Africa entered the competition with her natural hair, and while she was commenting on the motivation behind it, in her speech, she said: “I came into this competition with my natural hair as a symbol of my firm belief in fair representation of any shape and form. And so, through my win, I hope I have inspired people, even if just one person to be themselves at all times and to never compromise their identities, and to insert themselves in spaces where they feel that people like them do not belong. Because the truth is, we do belong and in the words of the actress Lupita Nyong’o ‘Your dreams are valid’.” As Tunzi has emerged as the new Miss South Africa 2019 winner, she goes home with a cash of R1 million as well as another R2 million worth of sponsorship and prizes. These would include using an apartment in Sandton, and until another winner emerges, she has access to a Mercedes Benz cabriolet which she will be using.
