After postponing its coronation night in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Incorporated (BPCI) announced on Wednesday that the event will finally be pushing through in 2021. It was originally slated for May 31, 2020.
The organization shared the big news on its Facebook page, to the delight of the pageant's fans.
"We know you've been waiting for this," the caption read. "The search for beautiful, empowered, and inspiring Filipinas returns this 2021 in the country's most prestigious and much-awaited pageant!"
Amid the global health crisis, Bb. Pilipinas noted that it will be adopting a "new normal" setting to ensure the safety of the candidates and others involved.
In a Facebook live update on Friday, BPCI released a letter from its chairperson Stella Araneta, which confirmed the date of the coronation night, April 17.
"We share your excitement as we see the candidates in action again, and we look forward to your continuous support," the letter read.
In December 2019, the Miss Universe Organization shared that BPCI will no longer crown the next Miss Universe Philippines beginning 2020. Titles up for grabs in the Bb. Pilipinas pageant are Bb. Pilipinas Globe, Bb. Pilipinas Grand International, Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental, and Bb. Pilipinas International.
