Back in June, Binibining Pilipinas-Intercontinental 2018 Karen Gallman broke the news of her engagement to her boyfriend of five years Ian Garton on Instagram, complete with photos of the diamond ring.
In that post, Gallman wrote, “Two weeks today, the love of my life asked me to marry him… I said yes of course! Thank you for making me the happiest girl on the planet, I am so blessed to have you in my life.”
Her Binibini “sisters” — among them Bb. Pilipinas-Grand International 2018 Eva Patalinjug, Bb. Pilipinas 2018 Vickie Rushton, Miss Universe Philippines 2014 and 2017 MJ Lastimosa and Rachel Peters respectively, and Bb. Pilipinas 2018 semi-finalist Sandra Lemonon — were only too happy for Gallman.

“Gurl I smelled it! I’m like no way in hell you guys going to places and not engaged! I’m so happy for you!” Lemonon commented on the photo Gallman.
However, at the media conference on the night she won the Philippines its very first Miss Intecontinental crown, The Manila Times was able to chat with Gallman’s fiance at the sidelights who revealed the wedding will have to wait.
“I’m happy for her,” Garton said, adding that their relationhip remains ever solid.
“We’re engaged but, well, she has a responsibility as the winner and that should be the priority now. Marriage can wait until her reign is over.”

When The Manila Times noted they were just like Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray and her boyfriend, Filipino-German Clint Bondad, Garton casually exclaimed, “No, they’re no longer in a relationship. They’ve broken up before Catriona left for Thailand for [the] Miss Universe [pageant].”
Garton, who is Australian, was with his parents proudly watching Gallman clinch the first Miss Intercontinental crown for the Philippines in the pageant’s 47 years of existence. Gallman and Gray are both Filipino-Australian.
