Miss South Africa Lalela Mswane will represent Mzansi at Miss Supranational 2022.
The announcement, made on Twitter on Tuesday, revealed Lalela will be returning to the "international stage" in July when she travels to Poland to participate in the 13th edition of the pageant.
"We are super excited about this year's edition of Miss Supranational and that Lalela will represent us at this prestigious event," said Stephanie Weil – CEO, Miss South Africa in a statement. "We once again call on all South Africans to show their support and we believe she will make us all proud."
Lalela was crowned Miss South Africa 2021 in October. The two runners-up were Moratwe Masima, from Midrand in Gauteng, and Zimi Mabunzi from eQonce (King William's Town) Eastern Cape.
It was announced in a press conference in October that the top three contestants would represent South Africa at Miss World, Miss Universe and Miss Supranational.
Despite a public appeal to boycott Miss Universe, the 24-year-old model represented South Africa at the international pageant hosted in Israel in December and placed third.
Reigning Miss Suprantional is Namibia's Chanique Rabe. She is also the first winner from Africa.
Last year, South Africa's Thato Mosehle was crowned second runner-up at the 2021 Miss Supranational competition.
