LOOK: Miss Universe Philippines reveals 50 delegates for 2022 pageant

Who do you think will be the next Miss Universe Philippines?

MANILA, Philippines – The Miss Universe Philippines (MUP) organization unveiled on Monday, February 28 the official 50 delegates for its 2022 pageant.

“Introducing this year’s roster of Filipina beauties vying for the most prestigious crown in the country,” they said alongside a photoset of the delegates’ beauty shots.

Familiar names on the list are Miss World Philippines 2019 Michelle Dee, Miss Earth Philippines Celesti Cortesi, and Miss Universe Philippines 2020 3rd Runner-up Pauline Amelinckx.

The organization added that they’re “narrowing the field to get [them] closer to our Final 30 delegates.” They, however, did not reveal when the final 30 delegates will be announced nor the elimination process.

It can be recalled that the 2021 edition of MUP started with 100 delegates, who underwent several online and remote challenges in the succeeding weeks. They were then narrowed down to the Top 75 and 50 based on their performances in the challenges and votes from supporters, before the final list of 30 candidates were announced.

For this year’s edition, the MUP organization partnered with the social entertainment platform kumu for an “interactive pageant.” The partnership promises to give delegates “fun live streaming tasks,” “interactive exclusive shows,” and “daily and weekly kumustuhan segments,” but additional information about such activities have yet to be revealed.

Reigning titleholder Beatrice Luigi Gomez, who finished as part of the Top 5 in the Miss Universe competition in December 2021, is set to crown her successor. The Miss Universe Philippines 2022 pageant night is scheduled for April 30. – Rappler.com
