Malaysia to host pageant for varsity students

WORLD Miss University Peace Service Corps Foundation has appointed Smalltree Sdn Bhd as the organiser for the 29th World Miss University Malaysia & International.

The event saw the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Smalltree Sdn Bhd chairman Dr Dzulfakar Abdullah and World Miss University Peace Service Corps Foundation chairman Seungmin Lee.

“We are very proud to be awarded the exclusive organiser status for the 29th edition of World Miss University event in Malaysia.

“World Miss University Pageant isn’t just another pageant, it is a varsity pageant that aims to spread the message of peace and love all over the world,” said Dr Dzulfakar after the signing ceremony at Le Meridien Putrajaya.

“This event is a global peace festival held annually by female university students from world renowned universities that combine intelligence, virtue and fitness.

“The goal of the event is to harmonise different religions, ideologies, languages and cultures,” said Lee

Also present at the launch were World Miss University Korea chairman Park Keum Rye, World Miss University Malaysia adviser Du-Ik Bak, Smalltree Sdn Bhd managing director Hussaidi Hussin and 28th World Miss University winner Claudia Moras Baez.

Malaysia's first World Miss University local search will commence in May.

The local final will be tentatively held on July 26.

The event will be a platform for local organisations that believe in empowering women as they showcase their talents, intelligence and beauty.

Some 100 university students from all over the world will be vying for the title at the contest that will be held in Malaysia later this year.

The winner will become the Ambassador for World Miss University Peace Corps, representing the organisation in activities that create unity and understanding among global communities.
