Manika Sheokand, a chemical engineer by profession, set out on a path to chase her dream and create a distinct identity for herself, something larger than her enviable qualification. Thus began her journey that had a surreal ending as she won the coveted crown of Femina Miss Grand India 2020.
The young lady dreamt of gowns and glittering tiaras during her childhood but lost her path somewhere during her teen years. But, as destiny would have it, she realised her true calling and is now the sweetheart of our country. Speaking about the biggest achievements of her life, Manika says, “Everyone knows that life is a journey one takes to become the best version of themselves, and for me, that is exactly what happened. This incredible and memorable journey of Miss India is a milestone that cannot be compared to anything I have witnessed before. The amount of love and respect that was showered upon me this past year was overwhelming. And what a year it was, full of twists and turns and the fact that I received so much support even in such tumultuous times has made this journey even more adventurous and special!”
A crusader by heart, she chose to lead the climate change division at her company and following her crowning glory, the stunner used the platform to be an advocate for the environment by participating in several initiatives and sharing valuable insights to protect our planet. She was also appointed the goodwill ambassador of the water conservation campaign by the Haryana government.
Adding further, she expressed her gratitude to the Miss India Organisation for her remarkable transformation despite several challenges due to the ongoing pandemic. “Although the entire span of my reign has been during a global pandemic, in every adversity, there is an opportunity. The girl who was always getting inspired ended up inspiring so many!
A platform as big as Miss India has opened up innumerable opportunities for me. One has had the chance to interact with the best of all professions. This has not only broadened my horizons but also instilled me with the confidence I had never anticipated.”
With her unrelenting attitude, she achieved everything she aspired for. And as she prepares to pass on her crown to yet another deserving aspirant, Manika shares that the learning and fond memories associated with her win will last a lifetime. “An incredible mix of international opportunities, supported by the expertise of the teams behind it, resulted in my grand transformation, which even introduced me to the best version of myself! This platform not only let me represent India on the international stage but also helped me be a part of creating positive change in society. I would like to thank the Miss India Organization for recognising the potential in me and instilling confidence in me,” she concluded.
