MANILA – Philippine representative Mariel de Leon will fly to Japan on Wednesday for the Miss International 2017 pageant.
“Tokyo, get ready for the Lion Queen!” the beauty queen said in an Instagram post on Tuesday.
De Leon is eyeing for a back-to-back win for the Philippines in the Miss International pageant. Her predecessor, Kylie Verzosa, will pass on her crown on November 14.
The daughter of screen veterans Christopher de Leon and Sandy Andolong recently finished shooting for her first movie, “Ang Panday,” alongside Kapamilya star Coco Martin.
Thanking Martin in a separate Instagram post, De Leon said: “Thank you for believing in me and for always being so kind.”
“You pushed me out of my comfort zone and helped me discover a new interest. You really are hardworking and down to earth,” she added. “Sana makatrabaho kita ulit! I’ll never forget this experience. Thank you!”
“Ang Panday” will be shown on Christmas Day as one of the entries in this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival.
