Yesterday afternoon, August 29, 40 Miss World Philippines aspirants were introduced to the press at the Novotel Versailles Event Tent in Cubao, Quezon City.

Among the gorgeous ladies clad in their green bikini and sky-high nude platforms are the familiar faces of Kapuso actresses Michelle Dee, Kelley Day, and Isabelle de Leon.
During the question and answer portion of the event, the three ladies were asked if being in show business has given them an edge in the Miss World pageant.
"Actually, Michelle and I talked about this," Dahil Sa Pag-ibig star Kelley Day first answered.
"We have a pressure in the sense that people expect a lot from us because we're used to being in front of the camera or were used to memorizing lines, or whatever it may be -- talking to people, talking to press.
"But pageantry for me is like an entirely different thing. You change your mindset, you focus on something completely different, and I think that's where the challenge comes from. On top of that, we do have the pressure.
"But I think that it kinda has its pros and cons [of being an artista]. Because, yes, we do have experience but also there's a lot of pressure on us.
"But I think everyone has their own pressures so I think we all have a fair game -- a fair game for everyone."
Michelle Dee, who's the daughter of former Miss International 1979 Melanie Marquez, agreed to the former's statement and even admitted being hesitant at first in joining the competition due to the amount pressure placed on her head.
She said, "It's kind of hard because you're put under the spotlight and you have certain expectations put under your head.
"Not only me as an artista but my family as well. They are very good and they are very well-known in the pageant industry and that puts an extremely huge amount of pressure in my head.
"And actually, that's one of the many reasons why I was hesitant to join because I felt like, prior to this, I felt like I wasn't good enough.
"So although being an artista has its slight advantage when it comes to publicity, I really do believe na pantay lang po ang laban po dito."
Michelle is also cousins with former Reinohispanoamericana 2017 Winwyn Marquez and is friends with Miss Eco International 2018 Thia Thomalla. All three women are currently hosting GMA News TV's lifestyle show Glow Up.
Lastly, Isabelle de Leon took the stage and said, "I believe that it is a fair game.
"We all have our strengths and weaknesses but I'm just really grateful for these candidates for helping each other out and they're really very talented so I think it's a fair game.
"There are pros and cons, but at the end of the day, we all just have to enjoy [our moment] and the people would see that when we're on stage."
Aside from the introduction of candidates, two more titles were added to the roster of crowns namely, Miss Eco Teen International and Miss Philippines Tourism.
The winning Miss World Philippines 2019 will compete for the title Miss World in ExCel, London.
