Savvy Shields, Miss America 2017, greeted Beth Mosher, a patient at the AtlantiCare Cancer Care Institute. Beth told her she was looking forward to watching the 2018 Miss America Pageant, which will be broadcast from Atlantic City’s historic Boardwalk Hall Sunday, September 10 from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. on the ABC Television Network.
Miss America Savvy Shields made a quick one day trip to the Atlantic City area, her last before the 2018 Miss America competition begins at Boardwalk Hall.
Shields toured the AtlantiCare Cancer Care Institute in Egg Harbor Township, visiting with staff and patients.
The reigning Miss America, whose platform focuses on improving the mindset of people and encouraging lifestyle changes to improve health, recorded a public service announcement about cancer prevention and detection with Dr. James Wurzer, medical director, department of Radiation Oncology with AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center.
In a video posted to her Miss America Twitter account, Shields spoke about the realization that the next time she would be in Atlantic City, she would be giving up her crown to the next woman to fill the role as Miss America 2018.
Also on Monday, The Miss America Organization announced Chris Harrison and Sage Steele will return to the host the competition, which will air live on ABC networks on Sunday, Sept. 10.
