2019 Miss Earth NMI Leisha Deleon Guerrero will fly to Manila on Sept. 29 to prepare for the Miss Earth International which will held on Oct. 27 in Naga City, Albay, south of the Philippine capital.
Deleon Guerrero will compete with 90 other women representing their countries.
She said she started preparing for the pageant as soon as she was crowned Miss Earth NMI in June. “I am studying and brushing up on relevant environmental issues in preparation for the Q&A portion.”
She was recently in Manila to work with fashion designers who will create and design her gowns, swimwear and costume for the competition.
On Saipan, Deleon Guerrero participates in community-organized cleanups.
“For my reign as Miss Earth NMI, there are so many goals I have set out,” Deleon Guerrero said. “One of them is to give back to my community as much as I possibly can.”
She said she wants “to make a difference in the NMI by improving our waste management, educating the public, and bringing awareness to relevant environmental issues.”
She added, “I want to be a role model for future generations by showing them the importance of preserving and protecting our Marianas.”
She plans to be in Manila a week before the start of the pre-pageant event to work on her routine, such as her walk, poses and projection.
