Miss Eco International: 'We're taking good care of all our infected queens'

The Miss Eco International organization on Tuesday, April 6 confirmed that some of its contestants had tested positive for the coronavirus even as it insisted that COVID-19 talk related to the pageant were "taken out of proportion."

The organization said they are “taking good care of all our infected queens.”

“Miss Eco International Organization will ensure the safety of all our candidates. All accusations made publicly against us may have taken out of proportion. We are trying our best to coordinate with everyone. Including the ladies who are still here in Egypt,” it says.

The group did not identify who were infected, nor did they say how many of their contestants had tested positive for the virus and were stuck in Egypt.

“We thank all our national directors and candidates for their support and understanding,” they concluded in the post.

Hours prior to Miss Eco International’s statement, the Miss World PH organization released a statement saying that the safety of “our official candidate, Ms. Kelley Day, remains our topmost priority.”

Kelley herself has yet to post on her social media accounts, save for an appreciation post on Monday, April 5.

Philippine bet Kelley finished first runner-up during the pageant final night held on April 4. South Africa’s Gizzelle Uys was crowned Miss Eco International 2020 - Rappler.com
