Remember the Miss Hong Kong 2022 pageant (香港小姐競選)’s winners’ list that leaked last month? Turns out it was fake after all as none of the top 3 winners were accurate. Not everyone was expecting model Denice Lam (林卓錡) to emerge as the champion – least of all herself.
When speaking to reporters after the finale, the 27-year-old beauty explained why she froze when the host called her name. “Actually, I still can’t believe that I’ve won because I felt that my performance wasn’t very good,” she said.

Even her famous father, Hong Kong heart-throb Wilson Lam (林俊贤), didn’t believe she would win Miss Hong Kong 2022. “When I asked you if I should take part in the beauty pageant, you told me to stop playing around,” Denice was quoted as saying. “Look at me now, I’m the champion!” This was, of course, a tongue-in-cheek remark as Wilson initially felt she wasn’t serious about this competition.
In addition to winning the title of Miss Hong Kong 2022, the public has also dubbed Denice as the “Sexy Miss Hong Kong”. The reason being? A spicy interview from 2020 where she opened about her sex life and having 5 sexual partners. The model also highlighted that she’s particularly fond of Scorpio men in bed. Is the past now coming back to haunt her? Well, not quite.

When asked about her past remark, Denice responded that those comments were made in the past when she was 25. However, now that she has the Miss Hong Kong title, and along with it, a bigger platform, the beauty queen told reporters that she’ll have to be more mindful of her words and actions moving forward.
During the Miss Hong Kong 2022 pageant, first runner-up Cecca Xu (許子萱) was also named Miss International Goodwill, while second runner-up Joey Leung (梁超怡) picked up the title of Miss Photogenic. The Miss Friendship title went to Sharon Ying (邢慧敏).
