In her desire to give back to the community, Miss Illinois 2017 (far right), visits with patients at the Liberty Village Nursing Home when they hosted “A Royal Tea…Meet Abbey Foster, 2017 Miss Illinois”.

Miss Illinois 2017, Abby Foster, recently charmed the tenants at the Liberty Village Nursing Home, Danville, Illinois, where she was the guest of honor at “A Royal Tea…Meet Miss Illinois, Abby Foster”.
She spoke to a room full of attendees (both tenants and guests) about her year thus far as Miss Illinois, her platform “Youth Mentoring-The Building Blocks for Success,” as well as her experience at the 2018 Miss America Pageant where she placed as a top 15 finalist.
Abby, the daughter of Melany Morris and Jeff Foster, graduated from Oakwood High School, and is a junior at Ball State University at Muncie, Indiana, where she is majoring in Elementary Education.
She is also an Indianapolis Colts cheerleader, and in the process for trying out for the cheer team again for next year.
“Being Miss Illinois 2017, has been a wonderful experience thus far. And it has afforded me the opportunity to receive $14,000 in scholarship money.” Abby noted, “For the ‘job’ of Miss Illinois, I had to take time off from my classes, but I will still be able to graduate on time at Ball State, due to the fact that I’m a semester ahead.”
“It was Abbey’s idea to come speak to our tenants.” Amy Lockwood-Thompson, Marketing Director at Liberty Village of Danville, Illinois, said.
“I was not going to ask her because I know she has to normally get paid for every appearance and we do not have that type of budget. She did this in her own time. She was so sweet and kind to all of the tenants. She autographed photos and of course posed for many photos. We are so proud of Abby, Miss Illinois 2017.”
Abby will resume her full time studies in the fall, and will graduate with her degree in 2019.
Her reign will end in June when Miss Illinois 2017 has the honor of crowning the new Miss Illinois of 2018. Each contestant brings their own talents, personality and charm to the position.
Abby has set the bar high.
