Guwahati: The first thing that comes to our mind when we talk about beauty pageants are tall, glamorous women, trendy clothes and twinkling lights, and the works. However, the organisers of fbb Colors Femina Miss India are trying to show a different aspect of the contestants -- the states that they represent and the beauty that they are famous for.

Through a series of videos, presented by travel firm Cox & Kings, the organisers are giving each contestant the opportunity to showcase the essence of their homeland. These videos are an attempt to offer a glimpse of what a tourist can expect from a particular state and at the same time show how travelling can be one of the most liberating ways for a woman to empower herself.

Assam girl Jyotishmita Baruah, who is representing the state at the beauty pageant this year, appeals in one of the Miss Getaway Goddess 2019 videos: “I welcome you all to my state, my state with immaculate natural beauty of the wild, peaceful villages and lush green tea gardens. This Northeastern state calls every enthusiastic traveler to get bathed in its scenic charm.”

From the lush green tea gardens to the world-famous Kaziranga National Park and the Kamakhya temple, the video showcases several places of tourist interest in the state.

Similarly, Marina Kiho, the contestant from Nagaland, welcomes tourists to her beautiful hill state in a beautiful video. “Nagaland, also known as the land of festivals, is rich in culture and heritage. In the recent Aoleang festival of the Konyak Naga tribe, 4,687 women danced and set the new Guinness World Record under the theme of empowering women for cultural heritage,” Kiho says in the video.

“Welcome to the abode of clouds,” Sangeeta Das, the contestant from Meghalaya, appeals in her video.

“I welcome you all to lose yourself in this land of beautiful diversities,” Roshni Dada, Miss India 2019 contestant from Arunachal Pradesh, is heard saying in her video.

Welcoming everyone to the land of jewels, Manipur Fbb Colors Femina Miss India 2019 contestant Urmila Shagolsem appeals everyone to visit her state that shares an international border with Myanmar.

In a similar video Jayanti Reang, Miss India 2019 contestant from Tripura introduces viewers to the heart of Tripuris, Ujjayanta palace in Agartala.

“Bamboo house and bamboo shoots are the heart and soul of our civilizations,” says Reang.

Talking about the hospitality of the people and introducing everyone to land of hidden treasures, Sang Doma Tamang, Fbb Colors Femina Miss India 2019 contestant from Sikkim, welcomes everyone to the only organic state of India.

“If you want to climb mountains and eat organic food, you are most welcome to my land, the land of peace and tranquility,” Tamang expressed.

Showing the beautiful landscapes covered by green mountains and the lifestyle of people in the second highest literate state of the country, Lalnunthari Rualhleng, the contestant from Mizoram, welcomes everyone to her state for a memorable experience.

The 56th edition of the fbb Colors Femina Miss India will be held at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Indoor Stadium in Mumbai on June 15. The beauty pageant will be hosted by Karan Johar and Vicky Kaushal. Anukreethy Vas of Tamil Nadu will crown the winner of the contestant and Meenakshi Chaudhary of Haryana and Shreya Rao Kamavarapu of Andhra Pradesh will crown their successors at the end of the event.
