At the Miss India pageant you are being mentored by Dia Mirza, how excited are you to be under the guidance such reputed name who has won a pageant for India internationally?
I don’t have words to express how happy I am to be mentored by Dia Ma’am. I want to learn so much, gain knowledge from her experience and wish to improve everyday with her. She has such a positive and calm aura that one always feels like listening and following what she says.
How important is it to be confident in your own skin?
I believe to be truly happy you need to embrace yourself! When we accept ourselves as we are and rise above all the insecurities regarding our body, skin, speech etc we find solace and true happiness. A woman, who is confident about herself, has the power to change the world!
Name a few qualities that a woman must have in order to become a beauty queen?
A Positive aura, serving yet confident attitude, and a purpose towards which she proceeds with passion make a woman, a beauty queen!
Former Miss India Priyanka Chopra is your favourite actress, do you aspire to become like her?
Priyanka Chopra is my favourite actress because of the honesty that she puts into any role she takes, be it on celluloid or of a daughter or UNICEF Ambassador. She inspires me to be unstoppable and choose what I want to do and always be myself. So yes, I aspire to become unstoppable and original like her.
Describe your ideal Bollywood debut?
A Bollywood debut would be as surprising as this question. I’m a highly imaginative girl so, my ideal Bollywood debut would happen after winning the Miss World crown, on the life of a beauty queen or a biography of our own International winners. As a lot of people don’t know the difference between pageants and modelling, I would love to make our audience aware of it.
A memory from the Miss India 2019 North Zone pageant that you will cherish the most.
Those 7 days are full of memories and it’s difficult to choose one. I still remember the day when we were travelling to our finale venue at 2:30 a.m in bus, all the girls were singing and dancing with full energy... expressing themselves with different acts. That moment still cheers me up as there was no competitive feeling but a feeling to enjoy the journey and make most out of whatever time we have, be it late nights after long days. Also I will not forget that late night Nutella Party after our Body Beautiful sub contest.
You have been an excellent student academically, how did the pageant world grab your attention?
A 7-year-old girl asked her mother, ‘Who is the most beautiful girl mom?’ Her mother frankly said Miss India. Though then beautiful had a completely different meaning for me but Miss India became my dream since I started dreaming! And with age came more understanding of beauty, intelligence, purpose and most importantly a queen, who is the one to serve and rule hearts! Academics has always been my first priority and it never stopped me, it gave me more strength to pursue my dream.
What was the reaction back home when you were crowned fbb Colors Femina Miss India Uttar Pradesh 2019?
I experienced real happiness when I returned home. I could see appreciation and acceptance in my dad’s eyes, pride in my mom’s words and actions, and a naughty smile on my brother’s face. Friends congratulating me, sending chocolates, wishing luck for finale and saying ‘you made us proud’ made me feel on top of the world. My grandmother distributing sweets, uncle giving party, as if they have all won made me cry with joy.
