Miss Scotland beauty Melissa Beattie hopes to win crown 35 years after mum

MEET the stunning Miss Scotland finalist looking to follow in her mother’s footsteps by claiming the crown – 35 years later.

Melissa Beattie, 24, from Glasgow, aims to emulate mum May’s achievement from 1984 by taking home the title at Saturday’s glitzy final.

The model has been up against 17 other hopefuls from across the country in a series of challenges and events over the past few weeks.

And she’s been raising funds for The Psoriasis Association along the way after suffering from the skin condition herself.

So far the former Partick Thistle admin worker has raised over £2,000 for the charity.

Melissa said: “It has always been so important to me to always show my moost raw, natural and authentic self, especially with my psoriasis and healed white marks being on display through this whole experience.

“My main mission is to help people to always feel comfortable in their own skin – quite literally.

“Nobody should feel like psoriasis defines them, as the most important form of beauty is from within.” 

Speaking ahead of the final tomorrow night, Melissa said the competition had been a “rewarding and challenging” experience.

She added: “My Miss Scotland journey has not only pushed me out of my comfort zone, but it has allowed me to pursue some of my biggest hopes, dreams and ambitions in life.

“The Miss Scotland Organisation have truly guided me down a path of self-development, confidence and charitable projects, and for that I am eternally grateful.”

Current Miss Scotland Linzi McLelland went on to claim the UK crown at the Miss World finals in China back in December.

Linzi, from East Kilbride, near Glasgow, made the top 12 at the international pageant.
