Amelia AboudMichael Sky, Miss Supra National South Sudan 2021, passed away on September 12, 2022. The details surrounding her death are disturbing. The Facebook Pageantry News International portal replicated information from local media that assures that it is an act of hatred perpetrated by religious extremists who oppose beauty pageants and modeling as they consider them unworthy.
On the other hand, the sister of the beauty queen provided a contrary version, it is suspected, for fear of reprisals against other members of the clan.

What did Amelia Michael Sky’s family say?
The older sister of Miss Supra National South Sudan 2021, Ebony Aboudassured that the cause of death was an untreated throat infection.
As she explained, Amelia Sky arrived in the city of Yambio four months ago to visit the grave of her father, who died in her absence.
When he decided to return to the capital Juba, with the intention of traveling to Germany, he could not find a bus and had to make the return trip in a boda-boda (mototaxi).
“It took him three days to get to Juba and in the process he got sick from the heavy rain and dust. She died in Juba while being taken to the hospital.” he told the Ugandan Eagle news portal.
“She has always been a pillar of our home and the family depended on her for everything. She was very strong, kind, and loved by everyone, especially when she went abroad to represent South Sudan,” she added.
Who was Amelia Michael Sky?
Amelia Aboud Michael Sky, who has died at the age of 26, studied Business and Accounting at the American School of South Sudan in Juba. Initially, she worked as a kindergarten teacher. She later became a professional model. She even got to be named Supra Model of the Year Africa.
Parallel to this, she participated in different beauty contests. Her last title was obtained by her in April 2022, when she represented South Sudan in Miss Environment International 2022 in Mumbai (India). She was second runner-up behind Kayra Wouters representative of Belgium, and was crowned Miss Biodiversity 2022.
