(BOSSIER CITY) - Miss USA and Miss Teen USA contestants are being welcomed to our state as all guests should, with food.
All 102 competitors enjoyed southern staples at the Silver Star Smokehouse in Bossier City.
When the women walked in to the party, they were greeted by family, friends, and local politicians.
Both Shreveport and Bossier’s Mayors went to the event.
The contestants learned line dances, got to ride a mechanical bull, and recent American Idol contestant, Garret Jacobs performed.
Liz Hennigan, the Miss USA and Miss Teen USA Pageant Coordinator from the Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourism Bureau said hosting both of the pageants will benefit our economy.
She also said, the social media impact is like free advertisement.
"The girls do so much social media, and that's what's fun to see, Shreveport-Bossier and there's just stuff all over. I mean we didn't have that before you know. If they weren't filmed. No one knew about our area. So, everybody gets to see what southern hospitality is, and how great Shreveport-Bossier is," said Hennigan.
Hennigan said four new movies have reached out to start production here.
She believes that's because our cities are hosting these pageants.
And, if you were wondering how much money will go back to our community, Hennigan says about $4.5 million.
