Pageant fans, critics and enthusiasts from all over the world are excited to see the much-anticipated crowning of the new Miss Universe Philippines (MUPh).

“This is just the start of many more. We are very excited to welcome you to the biggest, the brightest Miss Universe Philippines pageant 2022,” Miss Universe Philippines Organization National Director Shamcey Supsup Lee said.

The journey of the uniquely beautiful 32 finalists for the most prestigious crown will be decided on the evening of 30 April at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, where reigning titleholder Cebu City’s Beatrice Luigi Gomez will crown her successor.

Filipino multitalented artist Sam Concepcion will be back to bring another hit song, while Filipino-American musician and singer-songwriter Bamboo will serenade the finalists.

The third Indian titleholder, reigning Miss Universe Harnaaz Sandhu will grace the finals. She is currently in India for her homecoming.

Former titleholders, Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, Miss Universe 2016 Iris Mittenaere and Miss Universe 2017 Demi-Leigh Tebow will reunite as hosts.

Tebow crowned her successor, the fourth Philippine titleholder, Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray, in Thailand. The MUPhO is graciously thankful to Tebow for accepting the invitation as host in this year’s MUPh finals.

Aside from the pageant activities, Tebow will fly to Davao City to visit the Tim Tebow Foundation.

Her husband Tim Tebow, a former professional American football quarterback and former professional baseball outfielder established the Tebow CURE Hospital.

Nel-Peters and Tebow became engaged on 9 January 2019 and got married on 20 January 2020.

“I’m definitely very honored to be invited to host this year. The Philippines is a very special place to my husband and me. It was the first country I visited as Miss Universe 2017 and my husband was actually born in the Philippines so it’s very close to both of our hearts. We have various philanthropic efforts in the Philippines where we’re passionate about fighting for people that can’t fight for themselves.”

“One of our favorite places is the Tebow CURE Hospital in Davao City. The Tebow CURE Hospital offers physical and spiritual healing to children in need of orthopedic surgeries,” Tebow shared with MUPhO Director of Communications Voltaire Tayag.

Tebow added that another special place close to their hearts is the Village of Hope in partnership with Compassionate Hope, which provides a safe and loving home for children who were victims of Online Sexual Exploitation of Children. She is excited to see everyone from the MUPhO as well as visit some of their philanthropic organizations during their stay.

Apart from her reunion with the three Miss Universe titleholders, Tebow is also excited to eat halo-halo and mango, citing that the Philippines definitely have some of the best mangos that she ever tasted.

The model and the second South African titleholder after Miss Universe 1978 Margaret Gardiner, Tebow recalled her fondest memories when she visited the Philippines for the first time as Miss Universe.

“Getting to know the people, the culture, and eating halo-halo for the first time were all such amazing experiences. I also got to visit Batanes which was beautiful and just getting to explore the area was truly memorable. Another fond memory was getting to film campaigns with Pia and Iris, my fellow Miss Universe sisters, whom I’m so excited to be co-hosting this year.”
