A finalist for Miss University Canada 2019 originally from Chatham-Kent is the host for a gala in support of SOS Children’s Villages.
Roxanne Bilski is inviting people out to a fundraiser event June 1 at the Polish Canadian Club in Chatham.
SOS Children’s Villages is an international children’s charity that has offered homes to 80,000 orphaned and abandoned children in 134 countries around the world, according to a donation page for Bilski’s event.
This year is the 50th anniversary of the charity being in Canada and 70th anniversary of its founding.
“I believe that every child should be empowered to be the best they can be,” Bilski wrote on the page. “By providing orphaned and abandoned children with a loving home, SOS Children’s Villages gives children around the world the tools they need for a better future.”
The Beauties of Canada organization, which owns the exclusive rights to send a Canadian representative to the Miss Universe pageant, has partnered with SOS Children’s Villages.
The first 150 tickets sold will cost $45 and any additional tickets will cost $50 until the event reaches capacity. Tickets include dinner and entertainment.
Tickets are on sale at https://give.soschildrensvillages.ca/campaigns/10615-sos-children-s-villages-charity-dinner-gala until May 27.
The event – open to those 19 years and older – will begin at 6 p.m. with a cocktail reception and presentation. Drink tickets will be available to purchase at the event.
Anyone who can’t make it to the gala can still donate online until June 28.
