“THIS is not the Miss Bacchanal Show, this is Miss Universe!”
An upset Jenny Douglas, the local franchise holder for the Miss Universe pageant, said yesterday she wanted to get this point across to the nation, as she defended the organisation’s decision to strip Yvonne Clarke of her Miss Universe T&T title. Clarke will no longer represent Trinidad and Tobago at the November 26 pageant in La Vegas, Nevada, USA.
In a phone interview with the Express, Douglas argued Clarke breached a contract she signed prior to the competition, which stipulated delegates could not ill-speak or “make the franchise look bad”.
