Esonica Veira, current Miss Universe USVI titleholder, is of St. Thomas
The Miss Universe United States Virgin Islands pageant is currently seeking eligible contestants for its 2018 pageant. Interested applicants should be over the age of 18 and under the age of 28 before Jan. 1, 2018, as stated by the official rules of the Miss Universe Organization. They must also show proof of U.S Virgin Islands birth or current residence.
Interested young ladies may apply by visiting the website of the Miss Universe USVI Organization, www.missuniverseusvi.com, before the deadline of July 1.
The official pageant is to be held on Aug. 11 at the Bolongo Bay Beach Resort, St. Thomas. Contestants will compete in private interview, swimwear and evening wear categories. The winner will go on to represent the territory at the 67th Miss Universe pageant and receive over $50,000 in prizes and sponsorship.
The Miss Universe U.S Virgin Islands franchise is headed by Lulu Orange Tyson of South Florida. Tyson is a veteran with the Miss Universe and Miss USA organizations. The current USVI titleholder is Esonica Veira of St. Thomas. She recently represented the territory at the 66th Miss Universe in Las Vegas, Nev.
